To Whom Are You Listening? Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue No. 63

Raising the Barr is a weekly memo, which is always pithy, powerful and succinct. It focuses on innovative ideas by maximizing your life and business while leveraging strategy, content, technology and the web, to help you transform the success.

This week’s reflection point: Several years ago, when designing the logo for my company, I requested the feedback of my trusted support group and found that some like black and some like white. Some like modern and others prefer conservative style. So I chose the one I liked most even though it was not my wife’s favorite. I know, I was not as smart back then as I am now.

I see that many of my clients face this same challenge. For example, it may pertain to soliciting feedback about their newly launched web presence, or selecting their value proposition, or making a key future business decision. This feedback often creates more confusion and doubt.

So here are my recommendations:

  1. Choose your experts carefully and trust their advice.
  2. Learn to trust yourself and your own intuition.
  3. Although this one is a bit tricky for the reasons mentioned above, listen to your clients’ feedback, ideas and concerns, which will help formulate and guide your choice and direction.
  4. Build a trusted support system. This may include your mentor, spouse, mastermind group and business advisers.

This week’s tip: Weigh the advice you receive carefully and be selective in regard to which advice you consider valuable.
