Overcoming the Imposter Syndrome Raising the Barr Weekly Memo: Issue 370

I was interviewed earlier today by my good friend and colleague, Dan Janal, for his Top Business Leaders thriving podcast show. We discussed several important topics and among them the important of creating our global digital empires^® to get our word out, share our insights and wisdom with the world, increase our brand awareness, strengthen our thought leadership as well as overcoming the imposter syndrome.

During our interview, Dan asked for my opinion regarding the imposter syndrome, which is defined as a psychological pattern in which one doubts one’s accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud.” I have to admit that many of my clients have confessed to feeling that they suffer from this syndrome.

I believe the remedy to this syndrome is also the answer to creating and strengthening our digital empire which is simply starting by taking baby steps and then accelerating with speed, consistency, volume and quality.

Here is the remedy:

• Identify some of the challenges your clients are facing and struggle with.
• Create a bulleted list of ideas to help your clients overcome some of their challenges.
• Use social media such as Twitter to share each of these ideas.
• Create a visual meme for each of these ideas and share on your blog, newsletters and social media platforms.
• Turn these bulleted lists into checklists.
• Select a few of your ideas, add a story, a few applicable examples, an opening and closing paragraph and a call to action and send this article as a newsletter, blog about it and share on your social media channels.
• Take each story and transform it into an audio or a visual recording.
• Design a Transformation Visual® where a picture speaks a thousand words.
• Collect several of these articles, checklists memes and visuals, sort them into a logical sequence and publish your eBook or actually a book.
• Transform the book into an online course where each sub-chapter becomes a video or an audio recording.

See your digital empire and intellectual property strengthened, your self-esteem and success increased, and your imposter syndrome eliminated.
