Pragmatic Technologies for Life and Business Success®
Do you realize that the content you publish on your website has a direct role and influence in your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategy? Of course, your content is critical in attracting and engaging with your audience, but it is the major factor in impacting search engine results. Let me share several ideas on how to create and publish SEO-friendly content:
Relevancy: Your content must be applicable and excellent in order to position you as an expert and as an authority in the eyes of your clients and of course Google. The better your content, the more original it is, and the way it addresses your clients’ questions and concerns, the more likely it is to be shared and linked, which will improve its engagements and your rankings.
Target Audience: Identify who exactly you are writing for so you better understand what keyword phrases they may use when searching for your insights, products, and services. To better identify your target audience, you may analyze your clients, leverage various social media platforms, review your Google analytics, research your competitors, and conduct market research.
Mobile Optimized: Since the majority of searches are now conducted on mobile devices, it is critical that your content and of course your website are optimized for mobile devices. If you site and content are not mobile optimized, you will most likely get penalized by Google, it will be difficult for uses to find you and read your content, which will lead to high bounce rate and used leaving your site.
Long-form Content: These are articles, blog posts, and special downloads, that usually consist of 1,000 words or more and dive deeper into the topic you cover. You are able to then share more of your expertise and substantiate it with research, examples, trends and forecasts. I am not suggesting that all your content should become a long-form type content, but it is a good practice to incorporate such in your content publishing strategy.
Keyword Research: As I mentioned above, the importance here is to identify the keyword phrases that your audience may be using to search for you. Once these phrases and terms have been identified, you need to include them in your titles, actual text and SEO plugins implemented on your site. However, you must not overuse these terms. Some additional ideas for doing your keyword research are: feedback from your customers, investigation of your competitors, online communities, Google auto-complete feature, social media hashtags and tools such as Google trends and your Google analytics.
As you can see, thinking of your content creation strategically is critical for creating your SEO-friendly content. By doing so you are not just satisfying the various search engines, but more importantly you will drive more traffic to your website, generate more engagements and therefore more clients and more business.
